Creamy Garlic Mash recipe

Preparation Time: 15 minutes | Cooking Time: 35 minutes

These yummy mashed potatoes are garlicky, creamy and cheesy - the perfect combination in my opinion! Serve with any rich meat dish or some good quality sausages.


  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 50g butter
  • 50ml double cream
  • 2 garlic cloves (roasted or crushed)
  • 200g grated mature cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Peel and chop the potatoes. Place into a pan of cold salted water. Bring to the boil, reduce to a simmer and cook for about 20-25 minutes until tender.

  2. Drain the potatoes and leave to dry in a colander for a few minutes. Place back into the saucepan and add the cream. Mash until it reaches a creamy consistency.

  3. Beat in the butter with a wooden spoon until it has melted, then stir in the cheese and garlic. Season to taste.

For a different take on this dish, omit the cheese and add a few tbsp. of pesto. Recipe serves 4.
