Affogato recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Affogato is an Italian dessert, made of vanilla ice cream and hot coffee. This version uses Irish cream liquor for a kick.


  • 500g best quality vanilla ice cream
  • 350ml Irish cream liquor
  • 2 litres fresh hot coffee, sweetened to taste


1. Put a scoop of ice cream into the bottom of 6 glasses. Pour Irish cream liquor over the ice cream to coat, then top up with coffee. Serve immediately, so that your guests can get the heat of the coffee and the chill of the ice cream at the same time.

If you like, flavour the affogato with a bit of chocolate. Recipe serves 6.
