Almond Cherry Crumble recipe

Cherries and almonds are a match made in food heaven and in these delicious little crumbles, cherries are topped with a yummy mix of almonds, oats and brown sugar. Serve with a little warm custard or some extra-cold vanilla ice cream.

  • 500g cherries, stoned
  • 3 tbsp. caster sugar
  • 4 tbsp. water
  • 150g plain flour
  • 75g butter
  • 4 tbsp. oats
  • 4 tbsp. slivered almonds
  • 2 tbsp. brown sugar

  1. Toss together the cherries, sugar and water and divide between four ramekins or individual dishes.

  2. Rub the butter into the flour using your fingertips until the mix looks like breadcrumbs. Stir in the oats, almonds and brown sugar. Sprinkle evenly over the cherries and put the crumbles into the oven at 180C for 20-25 minutes or until golden on top.

Cool the crumbles for 5 minutes before serving. If you like, omit the almonds from the topping and add more oats or a different type of nut. Serves 4.
