Perfectly warming and tasty, try this crumble at the end of a dinner party in the winter time. It’s an assembly job, so it’s dead easy to make. You could make it in advance and freeze it until use.
150g caster sugar
1 tbsp. plain flour
1 tsp. ground ginger
For the Crumble:
225g dark brown sugar
125g melted butter
125g plain flour
50g chopped nuts
¼ tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. bicarbonate of soda
Preheat the oven to 180C/gas mark 4.
Peel and core the apples and chop into bite-sized pieces.
Mix the apples with the blackberries, ginger, water, flour, and sugar. Put into a large baking dish and spread out evenly.
Combine all of the crumble ingredients in a large bowl and mix together with your fingers until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Sprinkle the breadcrumbs over the fruit so they are completely covered and put into the oven for 40 minutes.
Cook until golden and serve with thick custard.
