This easy apple sauce recipe is perfect for serving with all sorts of meat, but it goes perfectly well with pork. Once you've made homemade apple sauce once and you know how easy it is, you'll never buy it from a shop again! It lasts for a few weeks in the fridge so make up a big batch for a few weeks' worth of Sunday dinners.
- 1.3kg apples
- 750ml water
- 200g caster sugar
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
Peel, core and chop the apples.
Place the apples in a large saucepan with just enough water to cover them. Cook over a medium heat for 15-20 minutes, until the apples are tender.
Put the cooked apples into a food processor and blend until smooth. Stir in the sugar and the lemon juice.
Transfer back into a saucepan and cook for another five minutes or so before transferring to a sterilised jar.
