Banana, Walnut and Chocolate Chip Loaf recipe

Preparation Time: 20 minutes | Cooking Time: 1 hours

This delicious twist on a traditional banana loaf contains delicious walnut pieces and is studded with sweet, melting chocolate chips. Perfect warm from the oven or toasted and spread with a little butter.


  • 250g caster sugar
  • 250g plain flour
  • 100g walnuts pieces
  • 100g milk chocolate chips
  • 4 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 eggs
  • 140g butter
  • 2 tsp. baking powder


  1. Preheat the oven to 170C and grease and line a large loaf tin.

  2. Mash together the bananas and sugar, then beat in the eggs one at a time. Finally, beat in the butter until well incorporated.

  3. Sift in the flour and baking powder and stir until combined, then fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips. Ppour into the loaf tin and bake for an hour to an hour and a half or until a skewer inserted into the centre of the loaf comes out clean.

White chocolate chips and dark chocolate chips would also be yummy in this recipe. Makes 1 loaf and serves around 12.
