Bread Machine Poppy Seed Bread Rolls recipe

Preparation Time: 80 minutes | Cooking Time: 20 minutes

These soft little rolls have a nice crusty top and are perfect for serving with burgers, but they also make fab sandwich rolls. They're easy to make, too.

  • 400g bread flour
  • 3 tbsp. caster sugar
  • 2 tbsp. dried milk powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 225ml warm water
  • 2 tbsp. butter, softened
  • 7g dried active baking yeast
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 tbsp. water
  • 50g poppy seeds

  1. Put flour, sugar, milk powder, salt, water, butter and yeast into the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer.

  2. Select Dough cycle. Remove from machine, punch down, divide into 10 pieces and form into rounds. Place onto lightly greased baking trays, cover with a damp cloth and leave to rise for 40 minutes or until doubled in volume.

  3. Mix egg white and water and brush onto the rolls. Sprinkle evenly with the poppy seeds. Bake at 180C for 15-20 minutes or until golden and risen.

Leave the bread to cool for at least 20 minutes before serving. If you like, leave the poppy seeds off. Recipe makes 10 rolls.
