Preparation Time: 45 minutes | Cooking Time: 35 minutes

The dough for these rolls is made in the bread machine, then formed and rolled in butter and a mixture of grated cheese, dried herbs and spices. Perfect for picnics and for stuffing with savoury fillings.

  • 340g bread flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tbsp. softened butter
  • 120ml each water and milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. caster sugar
  • 7g dried active baking yeast
  • 50g melted butter
  • 25g grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. each garlic powder, sage and tarragon

  1. Put flour, egg, butter, water, milk, salt, sugar and yeast into the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Choose Dough cycle then press Start. Once the dough has risen, cut into 15-20 pieces.

  2. Combine paprika, cheese, garlic, sage and tarragon in a small bowl. Roll the pieces of dough into rolls, then roll in melted butter and herb mix. Place onto floured baking trays, loosely cover, then rise for 30 minutes.

  3. Bake at 180C for 30-35 minutes or until lightly golden.

You can serve these rolls warm, but they also freeze really well. Recipe makes 15-20 rolls.
