This side dish sounds simple, but the flavour of it is delicious - perfect for serving alongside a homely dish like shepherd's pie or stew. It takes just 4 ingredients, and 20 minutes to prepare - but it's really worth it!
- 1 savoy sabbage
- 4 rashers unsmoked bacon
- Black pepper
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
Take the outer leaves off of the cabbage and discard. Pick the rest of the leaves until you get to the tougher heart of the cabbage.
Slice the stem out of each cabbage leaf, then roll up into a cigar shape and thinly slice into strands.
Wash the cabbage well. Trim excess fat from the bacon and dice. Dry fry until golden and then add the cabbage.
Stir well and cook the cabbage, stirring often, until wilted and tender. Add the Worcestershire sauce and a good pinch of black pepper and cook until most of the Worcestershire sauce evaporates off. Serve hot.
