Cedar Plank Salmon recipe

Preparation Time: 12 hours | Cooking Time: 30 minutes

An impressive yet very easy way to cook and serve salmon, in this recipe, salmon is covered in a sweet sauce and baked until flaking and tender on a plank of cedar wood, which gives it a wonderful smoky flavour.

Ingredients

  • 4 x 150g salmon fillets, boneless
  • 1 x 15cm plank of cedar wood
  • 3 tbsp. each brown sugar and water
  • 2 tbsp. sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp. sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp. each dried dill and black pepper
  • 1 tbsp. soy sauce

Directions

  1. Soak the cedar plank for between 2 and 12 hours in water.

  2. Preheat oven to 170C and place the salmon on the soaked cedar, skin side down.

  3. Mix together the brown sugar, water, sesame oil, seeds, dill, black pepper and soy sauce. Pour over the salmon so that it is fully coated and bake for 30 minutes in the oven until flaking and tender.

You can also BBQ with cedar planks. For a more subtle flavour, think about just using a little brown sugar and soy mixed together. Recipe serves 4.
