Cheat's Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff recipe

Preparation Time: 30 minutes | Cooking Time: 8 hours

This cheat's beef stroganoff makes use of some storecupboard staples to create a creamy, delicious stroganoff that's perfect for a family dinner. Serve spooned over pasta or rice.


  • 600g stewing steak
  • 1 x 400g tin condensed mushroom soup
  • 200ml white wine
  • 200g mushrooms, sliced thickly
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 150g garlic and herb cream cheese


  1. Put the steak, soup, wine, mushrooms, onions and Worcestershire sauce in a slow cooker and stir to combine. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-6 hours, or until the steak is tender.

  2. An hour before the end of cooking time, stir in the cream cheese until dissolved.

If you like, add a little paprika for an extra savoury edge. Recipe serves 4.
