A great alternative to regular mashed potato, this cheesy celeriac dish is perfect for serving up alongside roast meats or as part of your Sunday lunch spread.
- 1 celeriac
- 60g grated mature cheddar cheese
- Pinch each salt, black pepper and nutmeg
- 3 tbsp. double cream or milk
- 1-2 tbsp. butter
Peel and cube the celeriac and put into a large pot of cold water. Bring to the boil, reduce to a simmer and cook until tender and soft. Drain.
Mash until as smooth as possible with the cream. Season to taste with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Stir in the cheese and butter until melted, then serve warm.
