Fresh sweet cherries, dark chocolate and almond extract flavour this rich and creamy ice cream. It's a little like black forest gateau but in the form of ice cream - fabulous with a slice of rich chocolate cake.
- 500ml double cream
- 250ml full fat milk
- 150g caster sugar
- 1 tbsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 300g fresh cherries, stoned, halved
- 150g dark chocolate chunks
Whisk together the cream, milk and sugar, until the sugar completely dissolves into the liquid. Stir in the vanilla and almond extract. Pour into an ice cream maker or freezer-proof tub. Churn according to manufacturer's instructions or freeze for 3-4 hours, stirring half way through.
When the ice cream is soft but not set, add the cherries and dark chocolate chunks.
