Cherry Liqueur recipe

Preparation Time: 30 minutes

This devilishly delicious cherry liqueur is made with brandy and vodka. It's a potent one, but the aging process turns it into a sweet, very drinkable liqueur. Use it in place of regular vodka or brandy in cocktails to really jazz up your drinks.

  • 700g sweet cherries, stems removed
  • 475g caster sugar
  • 600ml vodka
  • 250ml brandy

  1. Mix together the vodka, brandy and sugar in a bowl until the sugar dissolves. Slit the cherries.

  2. Put the cherries into a large bottle or large container, then pour over the vodka and brandy mix. Seal tightly and shake well, then leave to sit for at least three months. Shake the bottle every day for the first month, then leave to age for the remaining two months.

  3. Strain the cherries then rebottle the liqueur as desired.

A little spice would make this liqueur perfect for Christmas. Add some cinnamon sticks and cloves to the bottles during the aging process for a Christmassy cherry liqueur.
