Chilli Bread recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 3 hours

This basic loaf is flavoured with beer, chilli, cayenne and garlic - it's deeply savoury and is really delicious when serve with chilli con carne, or topped simply with some grated cheese and popped under the grill.


  • 200ml beer
  • 300g strong bread flour
  • 1/2 beef stock cube, crumbled
  • 1/4 tsp. each chilli powder and cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1/8 tsp. cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 dstsp. dried active baking yeast


1. Place beer, flour, stock cube, chilli powder, cayenne pepper, oil, cumin, garlic powder, salt and yeast into the bread mchine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select French Bread or White Bread and press Start.

Once baked, cool the loaf for 10 minutes before putting onto a wire rack to cool completely. It's even more delicious torn into chunks rather than sliced. Recipe makes 1 loaf.
