Chocolate Banana French Toast recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 5 minutes

Chocolate and banana sarnies are dipped in beaten egg, cream and maple syrup, then fried in butter until crisp. Perfect for lazy weekends or for an indulgent suppertime snack.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices large white crusty bread
  • 75g milk chocolate
  • 1 large banana, ripe
  • 25g melted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. cream
  • 1 tbsp. maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

  1. Beat together eggs, cream, syrup and vanilla. Finely chop the chocolate and banana and mix together, then spread half of the mix evenly over 2 slices of bread. Sandwich with the other slices of bread.

  2. Heat butter in a frying pan. Dip the sandwiches into the egg mixture, making sure that it is evenly coated on all sides.

  3. Put the sandwiches into the frying pan and fry for 2 minutes, pressing down with a fish slice. Flip and fry for another 1-2 minutes, pressing down with the fish slice.

To serve, slice in half and sprinkle with icing sugar and a pinch of cinnamon. Recipe serves 2.
