Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Muffins recipe

Cream cheese gives these chocolate chip muffins a lovely cheesecake flavour and texture. They're a great recipe to have up your sleeve - just change the chocolate chips to change up the flavour.


  • 250g plain flour
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 200g cream cheese
  • 125ml single cream
  • 55g butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 100g dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp. salt


  1. Preheat an oven to 200C. Grease or line a 12-hole muffin tin.

  2. Beat together the cream cheese and butter until pale and fluffy. Beat in the egg, single cream and vanilla. In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into the wet mix and then fold in the chocolate chips. Divide between the muffin liners and bake for 20 minutes or until the tops are golden.

If you like, add some nuts or some broken biscuits to the batter for a crunchier texture. Recipe makes 12.
