Chocolate Chip Cupcakes recipe

These yummy vanilla cupcakes, studded with milk chocolate chips are absolutely perfect for kid's parties. Top them with a thick chocolate buttercream and dot with more chocolate chips for a decadent treat.


  • 250g plain flour
  • 125g caster sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 150g milk chocolate chips
  • 1 egg
  • 70ml sunflower oil
  • 140ml milk


  1. Preheat the oven to 190C. Prepare a 12-hole cupcake tin with cupcake liners.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and chocolate chips. In another bowl, whisk the vanilla, egg, oil and milk together. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir to combine with a wooden spoon. Divide between the prepared cupcake liners.

  3. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or until lightly golden on top. Leave to cool on a wire rack before icing.

If you like, try adding some chopped nuts to the cakes for extra crunch. Recipe makes 12 cakes.
