This is a delicious dessert that's easy to make and full of flavour. Serve this with some hot custard or a dollop of clotted cream.
- 300ml milk
- 80g plain flour
- 100g caster sugar
- 3 eggs
- 450g cooking apples
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Peel, core, and thickly slice the apples.
Heat the oven to 200C/gas mark 6.
Prepare the batter by sifting the flour into a large bowl. Add half of the caster sugar to the flour and stir to combine.
In a large jug, whisk the eggs with the milk and gradually stir the egg mixture into the flour mixture, whisking all the time. Blend the mixture until completely smooth.
Grease a large baking tray with butter and spread the apples over the bottom of the tray. Sprinkle them with most of the remaining sugar and the cinnamon and toss them gently with your hands.
Pour the batter over the apples and then sprinkle the remaining sugar over the top.
Cook the dish for 35 minutes or until golden brown.
