Cinnamon Sultana Bread recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 1 hours

This sweet bread, studded with juicy sultanas and flavoured with cinnamon and vanilla, is a real treat. Serve warm spread with butter, or use it as the base to a bread and butter pudding.


  • 350g plain flour
  • 175ml warm water
  • 15g butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3 tbsp. dried milk powder
  • 2 tbsp. caster sugar
  • 1 dstsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. dried active baking yeast
  • 50g sultanas


  1. Put flour, water, butter, egg, milk powder, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, salt and yeast into the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Bread or Sweet Loaf setting.

  2. After the first rise, add the sultanas. Once the loaf is baked, serve warm or cooled with a drizzle of icing.

If you like, add some mixed spice, and use chocolate chunks instead of the sultanas for a sweeter loaf. Recipe makes 1 loaf.
