Cocada (Brazilian Coconut Sweets) recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 10 minutes

These yummy sweeties, made with coconut, condensed milk and a hint of vanilla are a wonderful sweet treat.


  • 1 x 400g tin condensed milk
  • 1/2 tin caster sugar
  • 300g fresh dessicated coconut
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract


  1. Put all ingredients into a saucepan and cook until the mixture thickens and turns slightly darker. Once thickened and heavy on the spoon, dollop by the spoonful onto a lined baking tin.

  2. Cool for 30 minutes until hardened, then keep the sweets in a sealed container.

If you like, you could add some lemon or orange zest to the sweets. Recipe serves 8.
