Homemade Corn Tortillas recipe

Ridiculously easy to make, these tasty tortillas are perfect for making into burritos and quesadillas. They're very easy to make, but the catch is that you need to find masa harina, which is pre-cooked corn flour. It's available from most specialist food shops, such as Asian stores, or online.


  • 200g masa harina, pre-cooked corn flour
  • 250ml lukewarm water
  • 1 tsp. salt


  1. Stir the salt into the water. Add the flour a little at a time to the water until fully combined.

  2. Roll a small amount of the mixture between your hands to form a ball. Flatten between two sheets of greaseproof paper, using a kettle or pot to make it nice and even.

  3. Fry for a few minutes on each side in a hot skillet. Make sure its non-stick, if not, use a tiny bit of oil. This will give the tortillas a slightly nutty flavour.

  4. Continue until you've used all of the mixture.

Fill these with anything you like - savoury fillings such as chicken and cheese are popular, but sweet fillings such as fruit and nutty chocolate spread are also very tasty. This recipe makes eight tortillas.
