Creamy Apple Jelly recipe

This is a wonderful jelly - made with milk, apples, sugar and lemon juice, the apples provide a lovely delicate sweet flavour whilst the milk keeps everything nice and rich. If you want to, add a pinch of ground cinnamon to the jelly mixture.

  • 2 cooking apples
  • 75g caster sugar
  • Juice and zest of one unwaxed lemon
  • 400ml milk
  • 1 x 11.5g sachet powdered gelatine
  • 50ml water
  • 45ml boiling water

  1. Peel, core and dice the apples. Place into a saucepan with the sugar, lemon juice and zest, milk and water.

  2. Bring to the boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for 10-15 minutes until the apples are tender. Cool for 10 minutes, then place into a blender and blitz until smooth.

  3. Dissolve the gelatine in the boiling water. Stir well until dissolved, then stir into the apple mixture. Divide the apple jelly between 4 serving glasses, then put into the fridge until set.

You could also make this with pears instead of apples. This recipe serves 4.
