Creamy Prawn Soup recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 20 minutes

In this recipe, prawns are simmered in an easy soup base made with condensed soup, onions, sweetcorn and stock. Perfect for lunch or for a dinner party starter, this is one simple yet delicious soup.


  • 450g medium prawns, peeled and deveined
  • 1 x 300g tin cream of chicken condensed soup
  • 1 x 300g tin cream of celery condensed soup
  • 450g sweetcorn, drained
  • 300ml chicken stock
  • Milk
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbsp. butter and oil
  • 1/2 tsp. each dried thyme and oregano
  • Salt and pepper
  • Nutmeg to taste


  1. Finely dice the onion. Heat butter and oil in a large saucepan. Add the onion and fry until soft and sweet, then add the chicken soup, celery soup, sweetcorn, chicken stock, a dash of milk to thin, thyme, oregano and salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer.

  2. Add the prawns and sweetcorn and simmer for 5-10 minutes until the prawns and sweetcorn are tender.

  3. Before serving, season with nutmeg and more salt and pepper to taste.

Freshen the soup up a little bit by garnishing it with freshly chopped parsley. Recipe serves 8.
