Crisp Coconut Prawns recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Prawns are coated in flour, then eggs, then coconut in this recipe, before being fried until crisp and then sprinkled with minced fresh red chilli.


  • 500g king prawns, cleaned, deveined, peeled
  • 100g plain flour mixed with salt and pepper
  • 200g dessicated coconut
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 red chilli
  • Groundnut oil


  1. Slice the chilli in half, remove the seeds with the back of your knife and then finely mince the flesh.

  2. Toss the prawns in flour, shaking off any excess. Toss them in the eggs, shaking off excess, then finally coat them in the dessicated coconut.

  3. Heat groundnut oil in a heavy frying pan. Add the prawns and fry until golden brown and cooked through. Sprinkle with chilli to serve.

If you like, add some chilli powder to the flour mixture to give these prawns some spice from the inside out. Recipe serves 4.
