This simple apple crumble recipe will be a sure-fire winner with children and adults alike. Prepare it in the morning and it will happily sit ready to be cooked in the afternoon. Feel free to adapt it to your own tastes by adding cinnamon or raisins, but this recipe is apple crumble as apple crumble is meant to be!
- 1 large apple
- 3 tbsp. caster sugar
- 5 tbsp. wholemeal flour
- 4 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. porridge oats
- 50g butter
Preheat the oven to 190C.
Peel, core and chop the apple.
Place half of it into an oven-proof dish, sprinkle with the sugar, then top with the rest of the apple.
Sieve the flour into a bowl and add the butter and sugar. Rub the mixture together with your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in the oats.
Sprinkle the crumble topping over the top of the apples and then bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
