Chocolate flapjacks are a fantastic way to get your chocolate fix mid-afternoon. Oats, syrup, chocolate and butter meld together in a delicious combination of flavours. Serve as a snack or, add a little melted chocolate over the top and serve at a party.
- 200g whole rolled oats
- 150g milk chocolate
- 6 tbsp. golden syrup
- 25g caster sugar
- 100g butter
Place butter, sugar and syrup together in a saucepan and cook over a low heat until melted together. Add the oats, and cook, stirring, for around 5 minutes, or until softened and golden. Make sure the mix doesn't burn!
Carefully turn out into a greased dish and press down with your spoon. Leave to set. Meanwhile, break the chocolate into a bowl and suspend over a bowl of simmering water until melted. Pour over the oat mix and leave to set in the fridge. Then, cut into squares before serving.
