Easy Chocolate Flapjacks recipe

Preparation Time: 20 minutes | Cooking Time: 20 minutes

Chocolate flapjacks are a fantastic way to get your chocolate fix mid-afternoon. Oats, syrup, chocolate and butter meld together in a delicious combination of flavours. Serve as a snack or, add a little melted chocolate over the top and serve at a party.

  • 200g whole rolled oats
  • 150g milk chocolate
  • 6 tbsp. golden syrup
  • 25g caster sugar
  • 100g butter

  1. Place butter, sugar and syrup together in a saucepan and cook over a low heat until melted together. Add the oats, and cook, stirring, for around 5 minutes, or until softened and golden. Make sure the mix doesn't burn!

  2. Carefully turn out into a greased dish and press down with your spoon. Leave to set. Meanwhile, break the chocolate into a bowl and suspend over a bowl of simmering water until melted. Pour over the oat mix and leave to set in the fridge. Then, cut into squares before serving.

If you like, you can stir some chocolate chips or nuts into the oat mix. Recipe serves 6-8.
