Easy Chocolate Walnut Brownies recipe

These easy brownies use some basic storecupboard ingredients, plus melted chocolate and chopped walnuts to make a delicious dense and squidgy brownie.


  • 450g dark brown sugar
  • 175g butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 125g dark chocolate, melted and cooled to room temperature
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 125g plain flour
  • 125g chopped walnuts


  1. Preheat oven to 120C and grease a 20x20 baking tin.

  2. Beat together the sugar and butter until pale and fluffy, then beat in the eggs one at a time. Stir in the melted chocolate and vanilla, then stir in the flour and fold in the walnuts. Pour into the baking tin.

  3. Bake for an hour or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Serve warm or chill until dense and fudgey.

If you like, you could throw in some more nuts - pecans would be yummy, but you could also add chocolate chunks, too. Recipe makes around 9 brownies.
