- 1 loaf artisan bread
- 1 head of garlic
- 225g butter
- 1 bunch chives
- Zest of 1 lemon
Mince the garlic cloves. Finely dice the chives. Place the butter into a small saucepan and melt it.
Slice the loaf into thick slices, not slicing all the way down so that it stays intact.
Stir the garlic into the melted butter and brush liberally over both sides of each slice of bread. If there's any left over, drizzle it over the top of the loaf. Sprinkle with half the lemon zest.
Place the loaf into a 180C oven and bake for 10-15 minutes. Once heated, place under a hot grill to brown the loaf. Sprinkle with chives and lemon zest to serve.
