These easy peasy pasties use storecupboard ingredients - just five of them, in fact, to create a gooey, delicious pasty. Perfect for parties or for impromptu picnics.
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 8 thick slices smoked ham
- 8 thick slices gruyere cheese
- French mustard
- 1 egg, beaten
Cut each sheet of pastry into two so that you have four squares. Brush each square with French mustard, leaving a border, then layer ham, cheese, ham, cheese onto one half of each square. Brush the border with beaten egg.
Fold the pastry over the filling to enclose, then press with the tines of a fork to seal round the edges. Brush with the rest of the beaten egg.
Place onto a baking tray and bake at 220C for 10-15 minutes or until golden and the pastry risen.
