Hot Chocolate and Doughnut Ice Cream recipe

This yummy ice cream is made using hot chocolate powder and chunks of chocolate doughnuts - it's a real treat and tastes like frozen hot chocolate with chunks of doughnutty goodness.


  • 4 dense chocolate doughnuts
  • 250ml milk
  • 30g instant hot chocolate powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 475ml double cream


  1. Chop the doughnut into small chunks. Heat the milk in a saucepan until hot but not boiling, then whisk in the hot chocolate powder until smooth and creamy. Leave to cool.

  2. Beat the eggs with an electric whisk until light and fluffy, then whisk in the sugar until well combined, pale and fluffy. The sugar should be dissolved. Whisk in the milk mix and the double cream until the mix is smooth and creamy.

  3. Pour the mix into an ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer's instructions, or pour into a freezer-proof container and freeze for 3-4 hours, stirring halfway through the freezing time. When the ice cream is firm, stir in the doughnut pieces.

Make this a coffee doughnut ice cream by using 2 tbsp. instant coffee instead of hot chocolate powder. Recipe serves 6.
