Hunter's Chicken recipe

Preparation Time: 20 minutes | Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Chicken is stuffed with cheese, wrapped in streaky bacon and cooked in a smoky BBQ sauce in this delicious recipe - before being topped with even more cheese. Serve with chunky wedges and onion rings.


  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 8 slices smoked streaky bacon
  • 120g grated sharp cheddar
  • Black pepper
  • 8 tbsp. tomato ketchup
  • 12 tbsp. water
  • 50g brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp. wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Put the ketchup, water, sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, salt and pepper into a saucepan and simmer away until thick and bubbling, stirring often.

  2. Make a pocket in each chicken breast and stuff with half the cheese. Wrap each in the streaky bacon and season with black pepper. Bake at 180C for 20 minutes, then top with half the sauce and the rest of the cheese. Bake for another 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and serve with the rest of the sauce.

Make this dish even easier by using a shop bought BBQ sauce, if you prefer. Recipe serves 4.
