Italian Chocolate Noodles recipe

This is a very unusual recipe, but it's definitely set to turn heads. It's also absolutely delicious. Serve with a big dollop of vanilla-flavoured cream.


  • 150g egg noodles
  • 150ml milk
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 30g butter
  • 30g corn flour
  • 3 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 2 egg yolks


  1. Put the noodles into a large bowl and pour hot water over them. Leave them to soak for around 5 minutes. Once soaked, drain and put into a serving bowl.

  2. Whilst the noodles are soaking, start the sauce.

  3. Heat the butter in a saucepan until melted.

  4. Add the corn flour and cook out for around 2 to 3 minutes, like the beginning of a white sauce.

  5. Add the sugar and stir well to combine, and then add the milk. Whisk to avoid any lumps.

  6. Bring this mixture to the boil and then simmer for 4 or 5 minutes.

  7. Remove the milk mixture from the heat. Whisk the cocoa powder into the milk, then the egg yolks, one at a time.

  8. Pour the sauce over the noodles and then stir to combine. Serve.
