This is a very unusual recipe, but it's definitely set to turn heads. It's also absolutely delicious. Serve with a big dollop of vanilla-flavoured cream.
- 150g egg noodles
- 150ml milk
- 100g caster sugar
- 30g butter
- 30g corn flour
- 3 tbsp. cocoa powder
- 2 egg yolks
Put the noodles into a large bowl and pour hot water over them. Leave them to soak for around 5 minutes. Once soaked, drain and put into a serving bowl.
Whilst the noodles are soaking, start the sauce.
Heat the butter in a saucepan until melted.
Add the corn flour and cook out for around 2 to 3 minutes, like the beginning of a white sauce.
Add the sugar and stir well to combine, and then add the milk. Whisk to avoid any lumps.
Bring this mixture to the boil and then simmer for 4 or 5 minutes.
Remove the milk mixture from the heat. Whisk the cocoa powder into the milk, then the egg yolks, one at a time.
Pour the sauce over the noodles and then stir to combine. Serve.
