Jerk Pork Chops recipe

Preparation Time: 8 hours | Cooking Time: 20 minutes

Pork chops are marinated in a wonderfully aromatic mixture of spices, onions, brown sugar and rapeseed oil until tender and flavourful, before being grilled until tender.

  • 6 pork chops
  • 175ml water
  • 75ml lemon juice
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tbsp. each chopped spring onion, dark brown sugar and rapeseed oil
  • 3/4 tsp. each ground allspice, salt, cinnamon and black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. each dried thyme and cayenne pepper

  1. Dice the onion. Put the water, lemon juice, onion, spring onion, sugar, oil, allspice, salt, cinnamon, pepper, thyme and cayenne into a blender. Blitz until smooth.

  2. Pour the marinade over the pork chops, cover and leave in the fridge overnight.

  3. To cook, shake off excess marinade and oil a griddle pan. Griddle the pork chops for 7-9 minutes on either side or until cooked through to your liking, basting with any leftover marinade, if you like.

For a little extra heat, you can add a chilli or some dried chilli if you like. Recipe serves 6.
