Light Seeded Wholemeal Bread recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 3 hours

This light take on a traditional wholemeal seeded loaf is perfect for sandwiches - but because it's made with white flour as well as wholemeal, it's light in colour, which means that your children might be more inclined to eat it!

  • 300ml water
  • 2 tbsp. softened butter
  • 250g white bread flour
  • 125g wholemeal bread flour
  • 3 tbsp. dried milk powder
  • 5 tbsp. mixed pumpkin and sunflower seed
  • 2 tbsp. caster sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. dried active yeast or bread machine yeast

  1. Put the water, butter, flours, milk powder, sugar, salt and yeast into the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer.

  2. Select the Basic or Brown Cycle and set the crust to Medium. Press Start. Add the seeds at the signal or once the dough has risen.

Leave the dough to cool on a wire rack before slicing, or for half an hour after cooking if serving warm. Recipe makes 1 loaf.
