Diced mushrooms are added to a basic beef burger mix in this recipe - making your meat, and your budget, stretch further. Serve in soft wholemeal rolls with a little salad and some tomato ketchup.
- 500g minced beef
- 200g mushrooms
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp. tomato puree
- 1 tbsp. dried mixed Italian herbs
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 4 tbsp. fresh breadcrumbs
- Salt and pepper
Roughly chop the mushrooms and onion. Add to a food processor and pulse until finely chopped. Add the mince, tomato puree, herbs, Worcestershire sauce, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper and pulse until the ingredients are chopped together.
Tip from the processor into a bowl and mix with your hands so you can be sure that everything is well combined. Dust hands with flour and shape the mix into six burgers.
To cook, heat a little oil in a large frying pan. Add the burgers and fry for 5-7 minutes on either side or until browned and cooked through to your taste.
