Pear, Onion and Goat's Cheese Triangles recipe

Preparation Time: 1 hours | Cooking Time: 1 hours

These lovely little pastry squares are perfect for serving up at a party. Pear, golden onions and goat's cheese top puff pastry triangles and are baked until golden, melting and crisp. For extra flavour, feel free to add some fresh herbs.

  • 1 x 375g packet ready-rolled puff pastry
  • 1 pear
  • 50g soft goat's cheese
  • 2 red onions
  • 25g butter
  • 1 tsp. oil
  • Salt and black pepper

  1. Preheat the oven to 190C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. Peel, core and slice the pears. Thinly slice the red onions. Heat the butter and oil together and add the onions. Fry for 30-40 minutes until golden and soft, stirring often. Cool.

  3. Slice the puff pastry into 9 squares, then slice each square in half diagonally to create triangles. Place onto the prepared baking sheet. Add a slice of pear, a teaspoon of the onions and a teaspoon of the goat's cheese to each triangle. Bake in the prepared oven for 20 minutes or until the pastry is golden, then leave to cool before serving.

This dish would also work really well with a blue cheese, or a strong cheddar cheese instead of a goat's cheese. Recipe makes 18 triangles.
