Scrummy Hot Chocolate recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 5 minutes

A proper hot chocolate is thick, creamy and wonderfully rich. This hot chocolate uses a little Irish cream liquor for added flavour, but you can easily omit it if you'd prefer.


  • 100g dark chocolate
  • 125ml full fat milk
  • 125ml double cream
  • 4 tbsp. Irish cream liquor


  1. Break the chocolate up into squares. Place into a mixing bowl.

  2. Put the milk, cream and liquor into a saucepan. Heat over a medium heat until almost simmering but not quite, then pour the mix over the chocolate and mix with a wooden spoon until the chocolate is completely melted.

  3. Divide the mix between two mugs.

To serve, top the hot chocolates with some thick cream and a sprinkling of cocoa powder. Recipe serves 2.
