In this easy recipe, a whole chicken is cooked in the slow cooker until tender and wonderfully soft. If you like, make a gravy out of the juices - just boil down until thickened and add a little cornflour to thicken.
- 1 whole chicken (1.6kg)
- Salt and black pepper
- 3 whole carrots
- 2 onions
- 3 celery stalks
- 100ml white wine
Roughly chop carrots, onions and celery and use to line the bottom of the slow cooker. Put the chicken on top and season with salt and pepper. Pour the white wine into the bottom of the slow cooker.
Cook on high for one hour, then turn down to low and cook for 8-10 hours or until the chicken is tender and no longer pink in the middle
