Spinach and Strawberry Salad recipe

This unusual salad is a brilliant dish to serve as a starter. If you want to, add some ricotta cheese to add texture and flavour. Season with cracked black pepper if you like, as this goes brilliantly well with strawberries.


  • 500g baby spinach leaves, washes
  • 10 large strawberries
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 250ml vegetable oil
  • 65ml white wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp. black poppy seeds
  • Salt and pepper


  1. Blitz the caster sugar, oil, vinegar, salt and pepper in a blender. Stir in the poppy seeds.

  2. Wash the spinach and thinly slice the strawberries. Toss the spinach and strawberries together with the dressing just before serving.

Sprinkle with a few extra poppy seeds for more texture. This recipe serves 4.
