This super simple recipe for steak with a creamy mushroom sauce will fast become your go-to "special" dinner. Serve with baked wedges and a big salad.
- 4 steaks of choice
- Salt and pepper
- 175ml white wine
- 175ml double cream
- 225g mushrooms
- 50g butter
- Salt and black pepper
- 1 tsp. freshly chopped parsley
Thinly slice the mushrooms. Season the steaks with salt and pepper.
Melt butter in a large, heavy frying pan and cook the steaks to your taste (2-5 minutes on either side) until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set to one side under foil.
Add the mushrooms and fry in the juices and butter for 2-3 minutes or until softening, then pour in the wine and boil hard for 6 minutes or until reduced. Pour in the cream, take off the heat and stir in the parsley. Season to taste, then spoon over the steaks to serve.
