Steak and Creamy Mushroom Sauce recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 20 minutes

This super simple recipe for steak with a creamy mushroom sauce will fast become your go-to "special" dinner. Serve with baked wedges and a big salad.

  • 4 steaks of choice
  • Salt and pepper
  • 175ml white wine
  • 175ml double cream
  • 225g mushrooms
  • 50g butter
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 1 tsp. freshly chopped parsley

  1. Thinly slice the mushrooms. Season the steaks with salt and pepper.

  2. Melt butter in a large, heavy frying pan and cook the steaks to your taste (2-5 minutes on either side) until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set to one side under foil.

  3. Add the mushrooms and fry in the juices and butter for 2-3 minutes or until softening, then pour in the wine and boil hard for 6 minutes or until reduced. Pour in the cream, take off the heat and stir in the parsley. Season to taste, then spoon over the steaks to serve.

Make it healthier if you like by using creme fraiche or low fat cream cheese in place of the double cream. Recipe serves 4.
