This popular Italian starter is given a sweet makeover in this delicious recipe. Strawberries are cooked with sugar and piled on top of sliced French baguette - although there is plenty you can do to jazz up the pud, including adding a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
- 1 French baguette
- 200g strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 4 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Preheat the grill to a medium heat. Slice the baguette into 24, then spread each with a thin layer of butter.
Lightly toast the bread for 2-3 minutes or until slightly golden. Stir together the strawberries, sugar and vanilla. Spoon onto the baguette slices, then grill for a further 4-5 minutes.
