In this recipe, sprouts are tossed in a delicious brown sugar glaze made with spices, giving them not only a delicious flavour but also a fantastic texture. Walnuts give the dish some crunch while the butter keeps everything buttery and shiny.
- 575g Brussels sprouts
- 225g walnuts
- 50g butter
- 3 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. each allspice, nutmeg and salt
Boil the sprouts in water until tender. Drain, plunge into ice water and drain again, getting as much water out of the sprouts as possible.
Mix the butter, sugar, allspice, nutmeg and walnuts in a saucepan. Cook over a low heat until the butter is melted and all of the flavours combined.
Add the sprouts to the saucepan and toss to coat in the butter mix. Cook for a minute or two or until the sprouts are heated through, then serve.
