Syrian Garlic and Coriander Runner Beans recipe

Preparation Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Runner beans are cooked with plenty of olive oil, seasoning, garlic and coriander in this effective yet delicious meal. Eat it as a side, or it will even make a delicious main course when scooped up with warm pitta bread.


  • 500g runner beans, trimmed and sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • Handful freshly chopped coriander
  • 4 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
  • Good pinch each salt and black pepper


  1. Put the beans into a pot, drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper then cover. Cook over a medium high heat until tender, stirring occasionally.

  2. Add garlic and coriander and cook gently until the coriander just wilts. Serve hot.

For extra spice, add a tsp. of finely chopped fresh chilli. Recipe serves 2.
