This simple buttercream recipe is perfect for icing cupcakes and round cakes. It's creamy, sweet, slightly salty and wonderfully soft. It can be coloured really easily too.
- 600g icing sugar
- 250g butter (use proper butter)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp. milk
Beat together the butter and vanilla extract until softened.
Gradually beat in the icing sugar, a little at a time, until completely incorporated. Beat in the milk.
Continue beating the icing until light and fluffy. Use to ice the cupcakes.
