Deliciously tasty crumble with a light texture. Try with a drizzle of golden syrup and some cold vanilla ice cream.
2 tbsp. lemon juice
4 tbsp. water
200g dark brown sugar
125g butter (cold and chopped into cubes)
125g chopped walnuts
50g plain flour
50g porridge oats
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
A pinch of salt
Preheat the oven to 180C/gas mark 4.
Peel, core, and slice the apples thinly. Tip them into a large oven dish. Pour the lemon juice and water over them and toss together with your hands.
For the crumble, mix the brown sugar, walnuts, flour, oats, nutmeg and salt together in a bowl so they are well combined.
Tip the butter in and rub with your fingertips until the crumble mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Tip the crumble mixture over the fruit and cook for around 45 minutes. The top should be lightly browned. Serve warm.
