Walnut and Raisin Oatcakes recipe

Preparation Time: 20 minutes | Cooking Time: 15 minutes

These delicious and slightly sweet walnut and raisin oatcakes are perfect for serving with a cuppa or as part of a cheese platter.


  • 300g rolled oats
  • 175g butter
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 4 tbsp. milk
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 140g wholemeal flour
  • 50g raisins, chopped
  • 50g walnuts, finely chopped


  1. Dissolve baking powder in milk. Beat butter and sugar until pale and fluffy, then mix in the oats, flour, milk mix, raisins and walnuts. Tip the dough out onto a floured worktop and roll out to around 1cm thick.

  2. Cut cakes using a 5cm cutter and lay on an oiled baking sheet. Bake at 160C for 15 minutes or until slightly golden.

You could add a pinch of mixed spice to the muffins for extra flavour, if you like. Recipe makes around 40.
