- 1 5.4kg whole turkey
- 750ml red wine
- 1 onion
- Salt and pepper
Get the BBQ ready by spreading the hot charcoal over the base of it.
Wash the turkey, then season inside and out with the salt and pepper. Put the onion inside the turkey, place into a deep roasting tin and add the wine.
Cover the tin with foil and place onto the BBQ. Shut the lid of the BBQ and open the vents.
Cook the turkey for an hour and a half, basting frequently. Top up the liquid with water if the wine evaporates off.
